If you’re looking for somewhere new to skate then check out Welshcakes video blog or facebook page for reviews on loads of parks around the UK. Every week Chimpo Mcdoodle takes welshcakes to a new park and tears it up. This weeks episode takes us to Cardiff plaza, check it out….
We called upon Hula’s talent of capturing moments in time to get us fresh product pics. These will be added to the site shortly, in the meantime we have a short vid of what you can expect. : )
A massive THANKS to the guys and gals who took part and made it possible.
The plan was to skate various spots around the greasy streets of London throughout the night from dusk till dawn. In theory a great plan as surely less people means less traffic and therefore less hassle. However from the word go the rain came! This forced us to seek ledges, ramps and rails sheltered from the British ‘summer’ weather.
It’s a well known fact that security guards don’t like skaters or even people filming skaters, I think it comes from a bitter memory! At our second spot which was super hard to get too and even harder to get out of we encountered security asking us to leave. Not wanting to cut the trip short and spend it in a cell we politely obliged.
We headed to a few secret locations encountering Londons “user friendly roads” grinding through the heavy traffic and parking was becoming a nightmare.
South bank welcomed us with piss stink and angry graffiti. Luke Jarvis was skating so hard he bust a bearing, luckily we had a spare deck at hand and made a quick swap.
Overall the trip was a huge success, capturing plenty of footage of Luke and Flavio Flavenz shredding whilst Laurent Shinar and Hula ( M+V photogs ) snapped some fantastic images.
Andy Jarvis has knocked together a quick edit of Luke skating. The footage we captured will be released in our upcoming DVD. More info coming soon. Check out the links below.
We had a blast at Blissfields Festival 2011! The music was good, the weather was amazing and so were the people we met. Our clothing went down really well; the women’s t- shirts are nearly all sold out and some of the men’s t-shirts have sold out.
The Most Popular Designs at Blissfields Festival 2011
Having a stall at Blissfields was also a great way for us to get some feedback on our surf and skate clothing. Seeing the positive reactions to all our designs was amazing; some of the favourites with the Blissfields crowd were:
Also, the new designs we launched went down well, which was great! We’re currently getting the photography done, once we have the images, we’ll be adding them to the store.
Some Images From the Festival
Along for the ride was resident M+V photographer Hula Print, here’s a taster of some of the awesome images he snapped throughout Blissfields Festival 2011. The diversity of characters and amount of bands allowed him to capture a huge amount of images, too many to show in one post, so stay tuned for future posts highlighting some of his best pics from Blissfields.
Another plus of the festival was the great food on offer, it’s safe to say we didn’t go hungry! Some of the favourites were the smoothies, homemade curry and the standout Luardos burritos. The giant burritos being a stand-out. We were pitched right next to them, the smells wafting our way were amazing, it was torture!
Raffle Winner
The winner of our Blissfields Festival 2011 was Cate Potter. Congratulations! We’ve been in touch and Cate has chosen her t-shirt – Midnight women’s t-shirt. Thanks to everyone who entered – stay tuned to the site for competitions in the near future.
At M+V we are very lucky to work with a collection of talented people. In particular our photographers, who play a very important role in creating our image have been busy lately. Laurent Shinar attended the greenpeace skatepark at Glastonbury 2011. Where he captured, among others the skills of Ross McGouran and Darly Domoniguez. Laurent is building a great portfolio and his work can be viewed here. http://www.laurentshinar.com/
The ever creative Hula is currently sifting through 30 megawatts of photos from Blissfields Festival. When sorted you should take a look at his work at http://hulaprint.tumblr.com/
