Blissfields Festival 2011

We had a blast at Blissfields Festival 2011! The music was good, the weather was amazing and so were the people we met. Our clothing went down really well; the women’s t- shirts are nearly all sold out and some of the men’s t-shirts have sold out.

The Most Popular Designs at Blissfields Festival 2011

Having a stall at Blissfields was also a great way for us to get some feedback on our surf and skate clothing. Seeing the positive reactions to all our designs was amazing; some of the favourites with the Blissfields crowd were:

Also, the new designs we launched went down well, which was great! We’re currently getting the photography done, once we have the images, we’ll be adding them to the store.

Some Images From the Festival

Along for the ride was resident M+V photographer Hula Print, here’s a taster of some of the awesome images he snapped throughout Blissfields Festival 2011. The diversity of characters and amount of bands allowed him to capture a huge amount of images, too many to show in one post, so stay tuned for future posts highlighting some of his best pics from Blissfields.

You’ll Never go Hungry at Blissfields Festival

Another plus of the festival was the great food on offer, it’s safe to say we didn’t go hungry! Some of the favourites were the smoothies, homemade curry and the standout Luardos burritos. The giant burritos being a stand-out. We were pitched right next to them, the smells wafting our way were amazing, it was torture!

Featured Artist – Tidal

Tidal officially formed during Student life in Cardiff 2007 when a new drummer joined a now drumless band what was back then known as Derail.  The original members of Derail, Ollie (vocals), Vaughany (guitarist) and Lewis (bassist) were desperate to continue to make new music, and with the arrival of Joe Wilkes (drummer) Tidal had a new exciting, improved look and dimension about them with an ever increasing drive. The early years of Tidal began slowly with various members focusing on their University studies, but since the very successful graduation of Ollie and Vaughany last year, pushing the band forward has been made a priority much to the joy of its fans.

The 4 track demo EP recorded at the very beginning has helped spread the groove across South Wales and was a great sign of things to come.  One of the tracks, OTT, has been unofficially labeled as Tidal’s ‘signature song’ by most of its fans and is always requested due to its funky flow and catchy chorus, however all of Tidals songs are just as favourable for different reasons such as the heavy groovy riffs, melodic harmonies and ambient rhythms.

Tidal’s music style has been described and categorised as many things such as groovy, funk, metal, ambient, progressive and compared to the likes of Clutch, Pantera, Black Label Society, Kyuss and Audioslave.  This is because the four guys creating the music have such a generous yet complementary blend of eclectic tastes, which allows their songs to evolve in many different ways.
